Hoopla Birthday Double Twisted Easel

Hi! DT Shirley here sharing my Hostess Monday project.

I decided to make a double twisted easel card using "Bobo Betty Set" and "Hoopla Hobo Set" which can be found here: http://digitaldelightsbyloubyloo.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_121
:

A double twisted easel card may look difficult to make, but is actually quite easy.
Start with a 10 inch by 10 inch piece of cardstock and fold it in half one way, open it up, and fold it in half the other way. Cut down along one of the fold lines from the top to the center fold line.

Using the flaps just created, fold the top inner corners down diagonally to the outside edge along the fold line, as shown.

Here is the design space file:

Add oval mats, approximately 4 by 5 inches, and a bottom mat that is 4 3/4 by 9 3/4 inches.

The balloons are from cricut.
The images were printed on 3 3/4 inch by 4 3/4 inch ovals.
Here is a closer view of the finished images.

Sip Sip Monkey Twisted Easel Card

Wow, I can't believe it's February already! Where did January go?
Well, today is New Release Day for Digital Delights by Louby Loo, so I decided to make a cute little twisted easel card using "Sip, Sip Monkey" and the sentiment from "Circus Mickey."

Card Recipe

All DD Stamps Used: Sip Sip Monkey, Circus Mickey Set (sentiment)

Cardstock and Papers: Spiffy Birthday Papers from Digital Delights by Louby Loo, cardstock by Recollections, image printed on Spectrum Noir Cardstock by Crafter's Companion

Markers: Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers

Acc./ Embellishments: Foam tape, three 1/2 inch glitter gems by Jots, two 3/8 inch glitter star stickers

Special Technique:

A twisted easel card is really easy to make. Start with a 5 by 10 inch piece of cardstock and fold it in half to 5 by 5 inches. Open it up the tall way. Take the upper left corner and fold it diagonally so the point goes to the lower right and the left edge lines up with the center fold. This triangular shaped flap is where you will add your image. Here is the design space file.

When completed, this is how the card will look from the side.

Here is a closer look at the completed image.

Hat & Wine: CR 7, 8, DR 5, 7

If you have never made a twisted easel card, give it a try. They are super easy to do and turn out so cute!

Circus Mickey Monkey Tent Shape Card

Today is new release day for Digital Delights by Louby Loo and I made a tent shaped card using several digital files.

CARD RECIPE

DD digital stamps used: Circus Mickey Monkey, Circus Tent and Party Hard Sentiment

Cardstock & Papers: Spectrum Noir Cardstock by Crafter's Companion, glitter Cardstock scraps

Markers: Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers

Color Palette

Tent: CR10, CR8, DR4, TB2, TB4, TB3, LY1, CT2, CT$
Monkey:
     Face: FS2, FS4, FS9
     Body: TN2, TN4, TN6, TN9
     Hat & Vest: CG#, CG4
     Balls: FL1, FL2, FL3, CG3

Acc. /Embellishments: Small star punch, small circle punch, 4 -  3/8 inch pearl beads.

Special Technique:

I imported the jpeg version of the tent into design space and saved it as a cut image.

I put the cut version on the mat and sized it to about 5 by six inches. I then duplicated the shape, flipped one image horizontally, brought the two shapes together so they slightly overlapped, then welded them together. I added a score line down the middle.

I then uploaded the jpeg version of the tent again and saved it as a Print Then Cut Image. I put the Print Then Cut version of the tent on the mat and sized it to match the card. The sentiment was imported as a png, then attached to the front of the tent image. The monkey is a 2 3/4 inches tall Print Then Cut image.

Once the images were colored I embellished the tent with punched glitter shapes. The tent was glued to the front of the card and the monkey was attached to the tent with foam tape. I colored the pearl beads with SN markers then attached them to the tent above the monkey.

I love making shape cards! Give it a try! Thanks for stopping by.
