Picnic Time

Do you want to go on a picnic?

I made this cute little picnic basket using the Picnic Basket and Sandwich file from My Scrap Chick. I also used A2 Layered Roses Card for the flowers.

I made the basket using the cream colored cardstock from a Neutrals Stack by Colorbok. I used the Samantha Rose Stack by DCWV for the floral  print, and the pink embossed print by BAZZILL for the exterior panels of the basket. I used a second copy of the basket for the pink basket panels and the floral areas on the lid. The floral strips on the body of the basket are one inch wide at the top and 3/4 inch wide at the bottom. The basket weave effect was created with 1/8 inch wide cream strips cut to size. The handle was attached with cream colored brads.

The flowers were made from light pink cardstock scraps. A yellow gem was added to the middle of each flower. They were attached to the lower right corner with foam tape. Green leaves were added. A light pink ribbon bow was added to the other side.

This basket would be perfect for a small present or treat. I love it!

Have a great weekend: maybe go out for a picnic!

Flip Flops Summer

It's been HOT, Hot, Hot here!
Perfect flip flop weather.

Today I am sharing a cute little flip flop wall decoration. I used the Flip Flop Tags file and Summer Title from My Scrap Chick for my project.

MATERIALS
Flip Flop Tags file from My Scrap Chick
Patterned cardstock from Melon Patch by Craft Smith
Dark pink, bright pink, green and yellow cardstock by Recollections
inks in coordinating colors.
fine point black pen
1/2 inch green gems by Jots
glue and glue runner
foam tape/pop dots
medium gauge wire
scraps of tulle, rick rack and ribbon

I cut a 7 inch bottom layer of the flip flop from green triangle patterned cardstock. I then traced these pieces onto white corrugated cardboard, cut them out, then inked the edges in green. I then traced this same bottom piece onto bright green and cut it out 1/4 inch inside the traced outline.
I cut the inside layer from the watermelon seed print then traced it on bright pink paper so this layer was about 1/8 inch larger than the watermelon seed layer. I inked all the pieces. (All of these layers can be made by duplicating and playing with the pieces in your cutting machine software.)
I glued the pieces one on top of the other starting with the cardboard layer, then added the green layer, the pink layer and the watermelon seed layer. I used a black pen to trace around the watermelon seed layer onto the pink layer.

I added the yellow toe pieces giving them a 3 d effect. I shaped and made the flowers, added a green gem to the center of each, then added them to the toe area with foam tape. The two flip flops were overlapped and glued together at the bottom.

The title is 4 3/4 inches long and is cut from yellow, green and pink cardstock. It was attached to the flip flops with foam tape. (One layer on the left and 2 or three layers on the right side.)

I cut about 12 inched of medium weight wire and curled it around a marker.  I poked a hole through all the layers at the top where the hole for the tag is and attached each end of the wire. I curled these ends around a pencil. The last step was tying 6 inch lengths of tulle, rick rack and ribbon  around the middle of the wire handle.

I  love this project - it's so bright and happy.
Enjoy this beautiful weekend!
