May All Your Weeds be Flowers Easel Card

For my "Anything Goes" project this month I made an easel card using Mother's Day Daisy and Spring Sentiment Set.

Mothers day Daisy                                                          Spring sentiments set

CARD RECIPE

All DD stamps used: "Mother's Day Daisy" and " Spring Sentiment Set."

Cardstock & papers: Prints from "Uptown Flair" by The Paper
Studio, cardstock by Recollections

Markers: Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers

Acc./ Embellishments: SVG card design by My Scrap Chick, three 1 1/2 inch paper flowers by Martha Stewart, six 7/8 inch paper flowers by Craft Smart, various sizes of black pearls

Special Technique:

The card for my easel is "Frills Circle Easel Card" from My Scrap Chick. I made the bottom layer 6 inches and the top layer 5 inches. This allows a little of the bottom layer to show around the lower half of the top layer.

The Mother's Day Daisy image was printed at 3 1/4 inches and the sentiment is 2 by 1 1/4 inches.

I scattered seven flowers across the left side of the card and two on the right. Using the various sized black pearls, I made a swirl on each side of the sentiment and added four pearls to the sentiment.

Color Palette

Skin: FS2, 4, 6, TN2, BP1
Hair: TN1,2, GB1, 6, 7, 9
Hat/ Skirt: CG1, 2, DG3
Shirt/ Flowers: MG1,2,3, BP1
Leaves/ Stems: Holly , Grass from Colorista

I love how bright and cheerful this card is. I hope you like it as well. I'd love to hear from you, so feel free to leave a comment.

Tire Swinging Percy Tent Card

Hi crafty friends!
Today I am on the Digital Delights by Louby Loo blog for Hostess Monday.  For my project I shared how to make a tent card.

For my card I used Tire Swinging Percy and a sentiment from Super Hero Sentiment Set.

Tire Swinging PercySuper Hero sentiment set
CARD RECIPE

Cardstock: Sage Green Light Foliage by Keeping Memories Alive, Dark green print from Old World Stack by DCWV, and Sage Green Dots by Lasting Impressions, cardstock by Recollections.

Markers Used: Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers

Acc./Embellishments: Frame svg by My Scrap Chick, Cloud Embossing folder by Darice, butterfly by Craft Smart, four paper flowers by Prima.

Special Technique:

For your card base use a 5 inch by 12 inch piece of cardstock folded in half.  Create an opening in the front panel that is approximately  3 1/2 inches by 4 1/4 inches. ( I used a card base from cricut, but you could make a die cut opening or make your own.)

To make the tent mechanism, cut a 5 by 4 inch rectangle from the same cardstock, and score the four inch length at 1, 2 and 3 inches. Then fold the piece into an M along the folds. Place double stick tape along the length of the first and last sections. Set this aside until after you have decorated the front of your card.

Decorate your card any way you like. In this case, Tire Swinging Percy swings back and forth in the opening.

COLOR PALETTE

Branch: GB 8, 9, 10, CG 2, 3, 4
Rope: EB 1. 2. GB 8
Tire: IG 3, 5, 9
Pig: Cr 3, 2, 1, Blender

When you finish decorating the card, add the tent base as shown.

Tent cards are so fun and easy to make! It's fun to experiment with different shaped openings. I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial. You can find more details here.

Have a wonderful, crafty day!

Patriotic Birdhouse Trio

Hi! With Memorial Day coming, followed by Flag Day and the Fourth of July, I decided to make something I could keep out for all these holidays.

For my patriotic birdhouse condo I used two files from My Scrap Chick, Birdhouse Trio and the 5 inch version of Prim Pillar for the base. I also used the fence from "Carrot Patch Box."

Materials

Birdhouse Trio &  Prim Pillar from My Scrap Chick
white tagboard
Patriotic prints from "Americana" from Colorbok
Distressed White Cardstock and tin ceiling print from Basic Grey
Weathered Blue cardstock from EK Success
Other papers from my stash.
Self adhesive mounting board (as used for needlework framing)
1/2 inch patriotic ribbon
inks in coordinating colors
Glue and tape runner

I used tagboard for the base layers of the birdhouses and stand to give them more stability. For the birdhouses I sized the side pieces to fit as closely as possible and duplicated them so there was a front and back and two side pieces. I traced and cut out by hand the opening in the front piece. I inked all the pieces and the corners of the base to help with the rustic feel of the birdhouses. The birdhouses are 9, 6 and five inches tall. I pushed the roof pieces of the two smaller birdhouses forward so the roof is flush with the back of the birdhouses so they will fit flush against the larger birdhouse when you put the condo together.

I mounted the three birdhouses as shown onto a 7 by 7 1/4 inch piece of self adhesive mounting board. I added a 2 inch by 7 1/4 inch piece of fence around the open area and added ribbon around the bottom.

The base was also made from tagboard and the side panels, top and bottom were made from the distressed white cardstock. These pieces were inked with brown and a little black. Lots of glue and tape runner hold it all together.

I love my new birdhouse condo and hope you love it too. I'd love to hear what you think, so please leave me a comment.

Happy Crafting!

NO SPRING CHICKEN EASEL CARD

My sister is celebrating a milestone birthday that she is not too thrilled about, so I decided to make her a cute little card to mark the day.

I used two files from My Scrap Chick for my card.

Blooming Layers Easel Card: click to enlarge

Shirley, Goodness, Mercy Digis

I cut the four layers of the flower from a thin cardstock, and another set from heavier cardstock, and layered the corresponding pieces on top of each other to give the flower stability. I used foam tape between the layers to give the flower dimension.

I added a sentiment made in Design Space using a system font.

I added a blue dotted circle to the center of the flower and some grass borders to the bottom of the frame.

The chick was colored with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers.

COLOR PALETTE

Hen: TN 1, 2, blender
Beak, Feet: BO 1, 3
Flower: MG 1,2, CT 2, 4, LG 2, 5
Hat: GB 1, 4, 6, green florescent gel pen
Hat Band: CG 3, LG 3
Dress: MG 1, 2, 3, pink florescent gel pen
Apron: TB 1, blender

I love how this card came out! The Blooming Layers Easel Card is the perfect frame for the cute mother hen.

Have a great crafty day! If you liked my card, please leave a comment; I'd love to hear from you! ~ Shirley

Butterfly Pat Shaker Card

Today is New Release Day at Digital Delights at Louby Loo.

I used "Butterfly Pat" and "My Kind of Catch" for my shaker card. They can be found here:

http://digitaldelightsbyloubyloo.com/  and here:
http://digitaldelightsbyloubyloo.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_31&products_id=1915

CARD RECIPE

All DD stamps Used: " Butterfly Pat" and "My Kind of Catch Sentiment"

Cardstock & Papers: Cardstock by Recollections, patterned papers from K & Company and my stash. Image printed on Spectrum Noir Cardstock by Crafter's Companion.

Markers Used: Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers

Acc./ Embellishments: Canning Jar svg from My Scrap Chick, Fuse Kit, orange sequins, small butterfly punch, 3/8 inch wide orange ribbon

Special Technique: Shaker was made using a Fuse Kit. I used an envelope slightly larger than the jar. I traced the jar on the envelope and fused seams just inside the traced lines. I trimmed off the extra film from the envelope. I punched butterflies and glued them back to back so they looked good from both sides. (You could skip this step if you use double sided paper.) I filled the envelope about 1/3 full with butterflies and sequins, then fused the top closed. I used a combination of glue runner and glue to put the layers together. I added a orange ribbon around the top. The image was atatched with foam tape.
